In this our world, where everything calls for attention to
distract us off our road, it is very easy to lose track of what you intend
accomplishing. You can be pulled from different directions if you are not very careful.
Securing focus is not as important as maintaining the focus. Likewise, setting
goals is not as important as working consistently towards such goals.
You need greater and more serious effort to maintain your
track in destiny than to secure it. Mark 13:13 “…but he who stands firm to the end will be saved”. The road
to fulfillment of destiny or achievement of any goal; be it corporate or
personal is always very slippery. It takes someone who is single-minded,
decisive and prayerful to achieve a set goal without veering off track.
David Ben-Gurion, the first prime Minister of Israel, asked
Albert Einstein to contest and be the first president of Israel. While Einstein
felt honored he refused, saying ‘I am a scientist, not a politician’. That is
the language of a man with undivided focus and a sense of purpose. Family responsibilities,
career choices, financial considerations, parental and societal influences all
play a part in dividing our attention or breaking our focus. Successful people
maintain their focus no matter what is going on around them. They are
constantly being proactive in the pursuit of their goals.
Distraction will come but it is left to you to either allow
them or disapprove them. First, be sure you are on the right path. Be sure you
are doing the right thing in the light of the scriptures. As you continue the
pursuit of your goal, constantly pause to evaluate every stage and decision you
make, whether they are in line with your stated goals. This is one of the reasons
goals must be written down.
You shall live in abundant grace.
